Affirm: Flexible Payment Options for Your Customers

Edited

Affirm gives your customers a flexible way to pay for eligible purchases by splitting their order into manageable payments over time.

It can be especially helpful for higher-value purchases, including Senior orders, where giving customers more payment flexibility may help increase conversions and average order value.

How Affirm Works

When Affirm is available at checkout, customers can choose Affirm as their payment method and apply for an eligible payment option.

Depending on the purchase and customer approval, payment options may include:

  • Pay in 4: Four bi-weekly payments for eligible purchases of $50 or more

  • Monthly payments: Longer-term installment options may be available depending on the purchase amount and customer approval

Affirm determines which payment options are available to each customer at checkout.

What Does Affirm Cost the Studio?

Affirm fees apply only when a customer actually pays with Affirm.

For each Affirm order:

  • The standard credit card processing fee is replaced by a 6% Affirm fee

  • There is an additional $0.30 processing fee per Affirm order

  • If a customer does not use Affirm, the studio does not pay an Affirm fee for that order

Who Takes on the Payment Risk?

Affirm handles payment collection from the customer and assumes the risk associated with the customer's payment plan.

The studio receives payment from Affirm upfront for the sale, rather than waiting for the customer to complete their payment plan.

Is There a Minimum Order?

Yes. Affirm purchases must be $50 or more.

Affirm is available for all job types, but it can be particularly useful for higher-value orders such as Senior photography.
